Introducing The Khimar Collection

Ghada Alamoudi - founder and Design Director of IRM Studio. Merging heritage with innovation, the collection revives the endangered Islamic craft of Intarsia, brought to life through hand-carved walnut, African rosewood, and shimmering mother-of-pearl inlays.

Inspired by the symbolic depth of the Khimar—a layered textile representing freedom and pride - the collection translates fluidity, protection, and empowerment into sculptural forms. Each piece also echoes the historical Hawdage practice, where valuables were flat-packed in textiles for Silk Road travels, aligning the collection with contemporary values of sustainability and cultural preservation.

The series features three signature works: The Khimar Chair, which transforms from concealed calm to radiant ornament; The Khimar Stand, a modular sculptural totem; and The Khimar Vase, balancing structural strength with feminine grace. Together, they form a dialogue between past and present, geometry and movement, restraint and revelation .

Celebrated for its craftsmanship and conceptual depth, The Khimar Collection has already earned international acclaim, including Platinum at the Architecture & Design Collection Awards 2025 and Silver at the London Design Awards .

A tribute to identity, empowerment, and cultural memory, The Khimar Collection redefines how heritage can evolve — not preserved in time, but carried forward with vision.
